The user interface is still too complex in situations where TiddlyWiki is being used to publish information in a read-only environment (eg a TiddlyWiki-based website). In particular, too many left-over artefacts of the editting features are confusing.
This issue was originally raised via a suggestion from PoulStaugaard?:
OptionsPanel? for browsing only, EditingPanel? for the Editing parameters. To further improve the suitability for web publishing, the OptionsPanel? should include all options relevant to browsing, while those relevant to editing should be collected on a separate panel. IMHO.
Alternative simpler approaches to resolve that specific issue include hiding the options relating to editing when editing is not allowed.
Other aspects of this issue include:
- Even with chkHttpReadOnly it's still too hard to suppress the 'view' toolbar button
